The Winding Journey
I’ve come a long way from the youthfully wild bugger I once was, the kid going down a questionable path in life, aimlessly wondering with no intentional direction.
As high school graduation approached, so did the looming burden of what would come after. I followed suit with my peers, the safe route so it seemed, and went straight to college. I even chose the summer leap program to get a head start. By the end of that 2009 fall semester, I had dug an academic hole so deep; the only way out was a ladder. The ladder I fetched consisted of dropping out and admitting defeat, at that time in my life, college was not for me. In the spring of 2013 after having started, owned, and operated my own business maintaining foreclosed bank owned properties, I decided that the hole I dug myself into and woefully climbed out of a few years prior, needed some attention. So I closed up the business after a year and a half of great success and came back to school. Through countless meetings with numerous academic advisors across a multitude of colleges, my search for a major came to an end in the college of Information Sciences & Technology (IST). I found that I could build an unmatched skill-set to compliment my hard-work ethic and passion for design and innovative technology in the college of IST. Coupling the IST major with the Digital Entrepreneurship & Innovation minor, I’ve been able to grow my toolbox of skills exponentially in a direction of endless opportunity. Ever since I’ve settled into my home here in the college of IST, I’ve been working away, filling that hole of academic sabotage I dug for myself, turning it into a mound that I can proudly stand atop. As I am nowhere near the end of my journey, I see each day as a chance to learn and grow into a better, and brighter individual. |
